Presented by Marilyn Hoag

In the early 1960’s I started out at age ten using an old fashioned treadle sewing machine making doll clothes, then at age twelve I was laying out patterns and making my own clothes thanks to my mom and Aunt Norma. I made all of my clothes throughout high school, college and the business world.

My grandmother used to say the inside of anything you sew or create should look as good as the outside, and that has always been my mantra for anything I make! Fast forward …. I have been designing and creating one-of-a-kind lamp shades since retirement 15 years ago on my Etsy shop, where I take a vintage shade frame and strip it down to the metal, then add new lining and fabric in various fabrics such as toile, florals, plaids and stripes to create a whole new look. Now I’m embarking on an additional fun venture to make Jane Austen bonnets!
