Paper Quilling

Presented By Jan Yoshioka

As referenced in Sense and Sensibility, Paper Quilling was a popular past time in Jane Austen’s era.  In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn the basic techniques of this very beautiful and versatile art form using paper strips.  Anyone can master the simple shapes, you just need good manual dexterity and the ability to work in miniature.  Fee includes tool, paper, handouts and a project to complete in class.  You will be hooked just as Elinor and Lucy were!

Jan Yoshioka has been immersed in this beautiful and unique art form for more than 45 years. A self-taught quilling artist, she takes immense pleasure in sharing this very basic and amazingly versatile paper art form. In 2004, her work was featured in Legacy magazine and in November, 2011, Jan was featured on a New York TV station demonstrating the basic techniques. She has taught in Lake Tahoe, various locations in Florida and New York, and currently teaches at the John Campbell Folk School in North Carolina. An accredited member of the North American Quilling Guild, Jan now devotes her time to classroom teaching, private instruction and creating custom designs.
